Please note: This will be an English language only course, there will be no foreign language translations available on this course.
If you are an Old Student, please consider arriving early to help with course set up, or staying after to help with clean up (see below).
Lodging at the course facility is heated and comfortable. Please note: there are no private rooms at this site. Rooms will be shared by 4-6 students. Beds with mattress and pillows are provided. Students are requested to bring their own bed-sheet, pillowcase, blankets, sleeping bags etc.
Some buildings at this rental facility are rather far apart (i.e, up to 5 minutes walking). Please let us know if you have difficulty walking moderate distances or climbing steps, or have any other special needs that should be brought to our attention.
Simple vegetarian food is provided. Most people with vegan diets or gluten sensitivities find there is enough variety to choose from during the course. Given the size and nature of this course, we are not able to provide special meals. If you have strict dietary restrictions without which you cannot complete the course, please email email@example.com well in advance.
Directions, Rideshare, and Other Transportation Information
Address and driving directions will be provided in the acceptance email that registered students and servers receive.
Rideshare and other transportation information will be provided in that email as well.
Help with Set Up or Clean Up
Old Students (i.e. who have completed a 10-day Vipassana course) are welcome to help!
Please fill out this form if you are interested in assisting with course set up or clean up.
Since this course is held at a rented facility, a lot of effort goes into preparing the site for running a meditation course. e.g.
transporting in all the materials
setting up meditation hall, dining hall, dividers etc.
posting signs and marking course boundaries
registering students, etc.
Similarly, once the course is over, the rental site needs to be restored to the way it was at the beginning and all the materials need to be loaded and returned to storage.
All of this effort is carried out by Old Student volunteers.
For the December 2017 course, we will need help from Dec 14-16 for SETUP and on Dec 26-27 for CLEANUP.
Ideally, we would like to have a team of 30 servers for each day. If you arrive on Dec. 14th or 15th, you have the option of staying overnight at the JTRC site. Please note that only old students may help with course set up. All students though are welcome to stay after the course ends on morning to help with packing things away. We should be able to finish clean up by 11am on Dec 27.
If you have questions about helping with course set up and clean up, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org, or text/VM 760-392-1332.
